Dan Bassill, founder of Tutor/Mentor Connection and Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC,
will be 74 on December 19, 2020

Every year since 2011 I've invited friends and supporters to
help me celebrate my birthday
by "lighting a candle" on my
birthday cake.  Each candle stands for one year, so a $7.40 gift
lights one candle.

The photos below represent over 40 years of public service since 1968 when Dan Bassill joined the US Army to October 2015
when his use of maps was featured in a Chicago Tribune story by Dawn Turner and November 2016 when Dan and his
mentee, Leo Hall, were interviewed for an article in The Atlantic.   Read Dan's Tutor/Mentor blog to see 2020 stories.

Please help Dan celebrate his 74th birthday with a gift that enables him to continue this service into another year.

Dan Bassill became a volunteer tutor in 1973 when he joined Montgomery Ward Headquarters in Chicago. In 1975 he
became leader of the program at Wards.

In 1990 he left Wards and converted the original program into the Cabrini Green Tutoring Program, Inc.  In 1992
he and seven volunteers formed Cabrini Connections, to help 7th graders from the original program continue mentoring
through high school.

At the same time, he created the Tutor/Mentor Connection to help programs like Cabrini Connections reach k-12
youth in all high poverty neighborhoods in Chicago.

In July 2011 Dan created the Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC to continue this visionin a new structure. A birthday
gift is NOT tax-deductable, but does recognize Dan's vision, long-term service, and gives you a share of Dan's vision.

If you share the same vision Dan does, then please share some of the responsibility for financing this work and providing a
salary for Dan to cover his own personal and family expenses.

Dan seeks sponsors, investors and partners to help build an organizational structure that has these types of resources.
However, the first step to winning is to get into the game....and staying there.    If you can help Dan keep this vision
growing in 2020 and 2021 with a Birthday or year end contribution .... please do.

If you can become a sponsor or investor or help find such people, please take that role. Connect on Twitter LinkedIn or Facebook
and offer other ways you can help.
